Knitting Olympics

11 11 2012

Knitting is popular in Iceland, so popular it has been turned into sport. Yesterday, around 15 competetitors gathered at the local cafe for the Ísafjörður Knitting Olympics – Prjónympíuleikunum. There was speed knitting for women and men as well as a relay event!

The women were fantastic and wizzed through their 10 rows in a matter of minutes. It was impressive to see their fingers fly!

The men on the otherhand, moved painstakingly slow. So slow they reduced the rows to 5 and then cut them off at 10 minutes. All the while complaining as the women and children watched with delight!
