Église Saint-Nicolas de Blois

From 1138 to 1186 the Jesuit monks built the choir, the transept and the first row of columns of the abbey-church, completing it at the beginning of the next century. During the War of Religion the church was disfigured and the abbey itself destroyed by the Protestants. In the 17th and 18th centuries abbey was rebuilt, it was turned into a hospital at the time of the Revolution.

Blois Cathedral

It is the seat of the Bishopric of Blois, established in 1697.This was previously the collegiate church of Saint-Solenne, the original building of which dated from the 12th century. Apart from some traces in the crypt nothing survives of this. The façade and the belltower were built in 1544. The nave was destroyed by a hurricane in 1678, and the reconstruction in Gothic style took place between 1680 and 1700 under the architect Arnoult-Séraphin Poictevin. The Lady Chapel by the architect Jules Potier de la Morandière was added in about 1860. To celebrate the church's elevation to a cathedral in 1697, Louis XIV presented the organ loft in 1704. The Cathedral thereupon took the dedication to Saint Louis.

Basilique Notre-dame De La Trinite

The Basilica of Our Lady of the Trinity presents a homogeneous architectural and decorative: it is seen as a major building of the sacred art of the period between the two world wars (1932-1935). The interior of the basilica striking the shimmering colors that fall from 14 large windows. Illustrating the mysteries of Mary in salvation history, in the heart of the Trinity, they are the work of Louis barrel of Jacques Le Chevallier and Theodore Gerard Hanssen.
