Fab Lab (Fabrication Laboratory) is a digital workshop with tools and utilities to create almost anything. It is a worldwide phenomenon that was started at MIT. Iceland has 4 Fab Labs, including one in Ísafjörður. Fab Lab workshop gives young and old, individuals and businesses the opportunity to train creativity and implement their ideas into practice by designing, developing and producing components with the help of digital technology.

The aim of the project is to increase knowledge of characters studied whole production, digital production in the industry and to promote innovation in Iceland. Furthermore, the project aims to enhance technological literacy of the public and general technical knowledge. The project’s goal is also to provide a platform for innovation and enhancing competitiveness of industrial enterprises, educational institutions and students. Use of the equipment is free, the only cost is raw materials, and they will work with you to obtain necessary materials. The Fab Lab has 3 main pieces of equipment:

Fab Lab workshop will enhance technological literacy of the public and create opportunities for greater diversity in the economy by promoting innovation. The workshop is for entrepreneurs, students, the public, businesses and institutions.
