Sometimes science is abstract and esoteric.  The plans are made by laboratory researchers and the studies are conducted on specialized research vessels. Not in Iceland – fisheries research is carried out on commercial vessels.

The Jón Vídalín has been used for Icelandic stock assessment studies for the past 30 years! They keep using the same type of boats to ensure accuracy and continuity.
